Roads:
The New Zealand road network is extensive and well maintained, with all main routes sealed. Central Otago features a number of unsealed character rural roads.
Vehicles:
International car rental companies operate out of Queenstown and Dunedin airports renting top of the range luxury cars to budget and transport vehicles, and motorhomes. Maui Motorhome and Car Rentals provide exclusive film industry rates. There are also smaller, local operations.

based in Cromwell, provides a range of hi-end vehicles for the film industry.
It also provides qualified precision drivers.

Aircraft:
Helicopter and light aircraft hire is readily available, flying from Queenstown and Wanaka (60-90mins drive from Alexandra) with professional, experienced pilots very familiar with the particular needs of the screen production industry. Queenstown airport has helicopter and private jet facilities.
Locomotives / trains:
The last train to actively run in Central Otago was taken off service in 1991. The corridor where the tracks ran now forms the Otago Central Rail Trail, which runs from Clyde to Middlemarch. Interestingly, several historic train stations still line the route and are now attractions in their own right.
While there are no trains running in Central Otago, there are two historic train lines operating within an hour of Central Otago.
- The historic Taieri Gorge Railway
Travels between Dunedin and Middlemarch (start/end point of the Otago Central Rail Trail),
and is also able to run on main trunk lines. Steam and diesel locomotives are used with
historical carriages and equipment and rolling stock (carriages and freight cars).

- The Kingston Flyer
A tourist train that runs from Kingston to Garston at the foot of Lake Wakatipu.

Sea:
Major shipping ports are located at Port Chalmers (Dunedin) and Bluff (Invercargill).
There are numerous road freight links from both to Central Otago.
