Access to TelecommunicationsThe population of Central Otago is almost representative of the national average in terms of access to telecommunications systems.

The exception is the high number of resident households with fax machines. This probably reflects the large number of small, home based businesses, including farms, in Central Otago.
Access to the internet doesn’t necessarily imply that there is excellent service in Central Otago. The quality and coverage of broadband is still poor compared to other, more urban, areas of New Zealand. There is currently no 3G coverage in Central Otago.
