Ethnicity

The population of Central Otago has more people who identify themselves as European and less who see themselves as Māori or Pacific Islander than the national average.

Note that “Other” includes those who called themselves “New Zealander” or “Kiwi”. The Central Otago population has followed the national trend in the 2013 census with many who in the 2006 census elected to describe themselves as "New Zealanders" chosing instead the "European" descriptor.
