November 2013 The Lake Dunstan Boat Club powerboat section runs an annual Powerboat Regatta for circuit racing boats, primarily in November each year. The site for the racing is in the Karawau Arm of Lake Dunstan, just above Old Cromwell Town Jetty.Circuit boat racing comprises of a range of classes of boats, including GP Hydroplanes, Tunnel Boats, Racing Runabouts, V Bottoms, just to name a few.

The Gutbuster mountain bike race deservedly gets its name from the challenging 75km course from Garston Hotel, up over the Hector mountains, through the spectacular Nevis Valley, and over Duffer’s Saddle on the Old Woman Range. 11am start from Garston Hotel.
