Local companies offer an unforgettable experience on guided mountain bike tours. From the gentle gradients of the Otago Central Rail Trail to the thrills of fast, downhill free mountain biking, you will enjoy it all. Whether you want a fully guided experience or just to hire your bike and equipment, there are businesses to help.
Central Otago’s golf courses are as varied as they are challenging, offering some of New Zealand’s most unique golfing experiences. For a start, they’re about as inland as you can get in this country. They have stunning mountain views and are set amid arid and often rural landscapes. Best of all, they’re uncrowded.

Curling Winter Activities
The whole family can enjoy the unique sport of curling year round in Central Otago. It’s easy to learn yet challenging to play and is a fun sport for all ages and abilities. Curling is a bit like playing bowls on ice. Heavy (20kg), smooth granite stones are slid across a marked out rink. Two teams of four compete – the object being to get more of your team’s stones closer to the tee than your opponent does
