St James Anglican Faith Community
Churches
- Roxburgh
After the creation of the Diocese of Dunedin in 1871, Roxburgh’s Anglican community looked to build a church in the town, sourcing stone from a short distance away, at a total cost of 440 pounds 10 shillings for building and furnishing. The church was dedicated on November 11 1872 by Archdeacon GP Beaumont, vicar of Lawrence, with Jabez Burton playing the harmonium, the beginning of his more than 40 years as organist.
