Central Otago is a natural arena for events, offering something for everyone! From motorcycle rally to multisport, horses to history, and festivals for wine, food, blossoms and thyme.

Whether participating or just watching, our events have that unique Central difference; where even an event can seem like a holiday! Many of the events held in Central Otago attract national and international support. There are also a number of smaller local events throughout the year.

The Vincent County rally is annual motorcycle event and is judged as one of the best medium-sized summer rallies in the south. The event is based in Galloway on the banks of the Manuherikia River. Proceeds from the VCR are donated to BRONZ's nominated charities Neuromuscular Alliance (formerly Muscular Dystrophy Association) and Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust

The annual cavalcades have been run since 1991 with each having its own spirit and destination. The destination, or host town, changes every year, so that participants have the opportunity to learn more about each host town’s association with Otago’s gold rushes, while enjoying the particular character and party atmosphere that each host town brings to the end of the Cavalcade celebrations.

Riders in the November 2018 race will start their six days of riding with a 22km prologue at iconic Coronet Peak, with five longer stages to follow, taking riders as far south-east as Alexandra and the Clutha River, before returning to the finish line back in Queenstown, completing 450km of riding with 15,500m of climbing.
