Central Otago is served by Dunstan Hospital at Clyde, 8km from Alexandra, which was expanded and refurbished in 2005.  It handles geriatric, patient rehabilitation, minor surgery, x-ray services and emergency cases. Specialists from Dunedin Hospital visit, minimising the need to travel to Dunedin for some services.
