8 Ranges Wines
8 Ranges Wines is a family-owned boutique winegrower.

All grapes in our wines are hand-tended on our 3 Ha Tussock Ridge Vineyard. The vineyard was planted in 2003 and has been certified as sustainable since 2009.

Located on a rocky gravel terrace overlooking the Clutha River between Alexandra and Clyde, amazing uninterupted views of 8 Ranges of mountains have inspired the name. Our logo expresses these mountain ranges, the Clutha Valley, and the long line of the Otago Central Rail Trail, which passes below our vineyard.

The breezy, elevated and rocky nature of this site and the long, cool autumns at this latitude enable ideal ripening - the acids reduce while the sugar, and therefore alcohol levels, remain moderate. Careful vineyard management ensures a minium of disease pressure. The grapes are deliberately cropped at low levels to ensure intensity of the flavour and even ripeness.

OUR WINES
Our wines express the terroir and uniqueness of the vineyard. The wines have a rocky minerality, smooth intense flavours, savoury notes and a hint of the local thyme which surrounds the vineyard.
We have received numerous awards and accolades since our first vintage, and now have a growing recognition for our fine Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Rose wines.
