Omakau Commercial Hotel
At the Hotel, we pride ourselves on our great food, service and hospitality. We ensure quality and freshness, and although “landlocked” we have a great selection of seafood to choose from - our Seafood Chowder is famous! We have a wonderful selection of Central Otago wines and Ales available from our bar to quench your thirst, and/or to compliment your meal. We invite you to taste our mouth-watering temptations from our qualified Chefs who pride themselves on the presentation of their dishes. Whether it is something light, or a hearty full meal you require, you cannot go past the Omakau Commercial Hotel.

Located at the rear of the Hotel, are the original schist stables, built around 1880, which housed Mr Leask’s horses when he farmed the land the hotel now stands on. You may have already seen them without knowing – this is where Speight’s filmed their “Good On Ya Mate” adverts – the most memorable being the “Two Tickets to the Ball.” Now called McKinnons, this lovely historic building is available for functions and is a popular venue for weddings and special occasions. It is open during the day for you to come and enjoy some of Central’s original history.

You may wish to take shade and dine in our garden area, the tropical conservatory, on the Patio, or in one of the character dining rooms – the choice is yours. We have a cosy fire on cooler days in our Café Bar, and also in the “Pomona Room” which is the original dining room of the homestead.

The Team at the Omakau Commercial Hotel welcome the opportunity to provide you with some good old fashioned hospitality.

Bunkroom
A "Cute & Cosy" bunkroom (2 bunks which sleeps four) with an adjacent ensuite (outside of the bunkroom) with linen and towels supplied – (The beds need to be made up.) This is located beside the Cabin and is for people travelling together (i.e. you will not have strangers in the same room with you). Great for the kids while Mums and Dads are in the adjoining Cabin.

MCKINNONS
Steeped in history, McKinnons was named as a result of the Speights advertisements that were filmed there – you may have already seen it without knowing. The most popular one was the “Good On Ya Mate” - Two Tickets to the Ball. McKinnons is full of memorabilia from the era of yesteryear and is open every day for viewing – don’t forget to bring your camera! It is a great photo opportunity both inside (behind the bar of course!) and out.
McKinnons is also the perfect and unique location for those special functions. Private and secluded, the atmosphere and ambience is something quite special and certainly makes it a night to be remembered. Our chefs compliment the evening with their menu choices.

If you are looking to get married, Stacey is a marriage celebrant and can provide a full package for your up and coming nuptials.
