Part-painting, part-sculpture, part-votive object: Megan Huffadine builds and creates wall sculptures that draw on her background in archaeology, interest in sociology and her environmental concerns.

The often overlooked object and the rituals that are part of everyday life have been one focus of Megan Huffadine's mixed media artworks. Recent works have considered seeds and reproductive parts of indigenous plants.

Her intriguing and multifaceted sculptures are made of multiple small works. They are arranged into dynamic wall works or contained in box-like frames that appear to surround a painting.

Megan’s art invites the viewer to investigate and explore these ideas by rearranging the sculptures to create new compositions and narratives within the works.

Born in Invercargill, 1955, Megan Huffadine graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (1977) and Post Graduate Diploma in Anthropology, University of Otago (1978); Diploma in Teaching (1979); and a Bachelor of Fine Arts University of Canterbury in 1987.

Megan Huffadine has exhibited in group exhibitions and solo exhibitions throughout New Zealand. She is represented by Milford Galleries Dunedin and Queenstown where her works can be seen as well as at Hullaballoo Art Space in Old Cromwell Historic Precinct.
