Central Otago is a natural arena for events, offering something for everyone! From motorcycle rally to multisport, horses to history, and festivals for wine, food, blossoms and thyme.

Whether participating or just watching, our events have that unique Central difference; where even an event can seem like a holiday! Many of the events held in Central Otago attract national and international support. There are also a number of smaller local events throughout the year.

Held in Central Otago every spring since 1969. Organised by the Alexandra Harrier and Walkers Club, this premier 10km road race attracts over 400 athletes from Otago, Southland and further afield.

Cromwell is the destination for the 13th Spring Challenge, all women adventure race. Spring Challenge is one of the gems of New Zealand adventure racing, where teams of three women take part in the adventure that includes rafting, mountain biking, hiking and orienteering.
