Message to Central Otago businesses interested in doing business with China
Mayor Tim Cadogan has been invited to take part in the New Zealand China Mayoral Forum 2017, which will take place in Wellington 3-4 December.
The establishment of the New Zealand China Mayoral Forum by Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) and the Chinese Peoples’ Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) was witnessed by then New Zealand Prime Minister John Key and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the latter’s visit to New Zealand in 2014. The objective of the Forum is to encourage more cities from both sides to deepen exchanges and promote common development.
The following cities from China will be represented at the Wellington Forum with several more still to confirm:
Beijing Hohhot Guilin Zhange
Weinan Shenzen Qingyuan Xiamen
Qingdao Panjin Lishui Dunhuang
Working to the theme “Smart business for smart cities”, the Programme for Day 1 will focus on business matching meetings between participating New Zealand companies and their Chinese counterparts.
LGNZ has extended an Invitation to New Zealand business to attend the business forum and business matching sessions on Day 1. There is no registration fee but participating companies will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
If you are currently doing business in China, particularly in any of the Chinese cities that will be represented at the Forum, or are interested in doing so you should consider taking up this very special opportunity. Government endorsement is a significant contributor to purchasing decisions in China. The Mayoral Forum will provide enterprises from both sides the rare opportunity to explore business opportunities in an environment endorsed by their local government political leaders.
