AUSTRALIAN CAMPAIGN – SOUTH ISLAND JOURNEYS
A multi-million dollar marketing campaign targeting Australians for travel to the South Island will kick off in Brisbane with sales agent training on 3 September. This is a significant investment by partners including Tourism New Zealand, Christchurch International Airport, Airlines and Expedia together with regional tourism partners who are all working together to make sure this investment converts to bookings.
For businesses to leverage this campaign investment we recommend the following:
If you are already working with Expedia, ensure your product offerings are up to date and they have all the information they need to allow for promotion and booking of your product.
Another great opportunity for everyone is to upload packages and deal/s to newzealand.com. Deals should be uploaded by Friday 24 August.
As someone once said….. it’s a ‘no brainer’ - it’s free to list and it can drive people to your door. It is worth remembering that if there are no Central Otago operator deals loaded – deals from other regions will appear on Central Otago pages.
If you want to know more then please contact Andrea.
Q: How do you encourage locals to become ambassadors for your business and also your ‘word of mouth’ marketers?
A: Give them an opportunity to try your product during the Local’s Weekend 13 – 14 October 2018!
Locals Weekend, now in its second year, is all about encouraging and enabling local residents and our "neighbours" from around the region to experience Central Otago’s tourism products. Locals are often the last to try activities right on their own doorstep, and having a specific weekend with special rates for locals is aimed at inspiring them to experience Central Otago’s tourism products.
Locals with first-hand knowledge become wonderful ambassadors for the choice of visitor experiences that our region offers. This is a great opportunity for you to connect with locals and provide our communities with a better understanding of your offerings and the value that your tourism business contributes to the local economy and way of life.
The Locals Weekend is marketed across Otago and Southland through print and online advertising.

CENTRAL OTAGO PROMOTION AT AUCKLAND AND QUEENSTOWN MARATHONS
Tourism Central Otago (TCO) will be promoting Central Otago’s visitor experiences to NZ and International visitors at consumer expo’s run in conjunction with the Auckland and Queenstown Marathons – two of New Zealand’s most popular events on the sporting calendar.
26 – 27 October Auckland Marathon Expo (approx 15,000 participants)
15 – 16 November Queenstown Marathon Expo (approx 10,000 pariticpants)
These events have been selected because both attract large numbers of participants from within New Zealand and offshore and where there is an excellent synergy with what Central Otago has to offer and our target personas.
How to be involved:
We are seeking support from operators for a prize and ‘expo only offers’. These will be promoting by our team at each event expo. Register your interest with Andrea by 21 September 2018.
