TOURISM ADVISORY BOARD - CHAIR AND MEMBER RECRUITMENT
Tourism Central Otago (TCO) has recently released a new ten-year strategy designed to shape the future growth and development of Central Otago as a destination for domestic and international visitors.
Strongly grounded in Central Otago’s ‘World of Difference’ regional identity, the strategy is built on an ambition to grow the value of tourism to Central Otago well ahead of increasing the volume of visitors. Ensuring that tourism growth is managed in a way that reflects the special character of Central Otago and its communities, while stimulating new business and employment opportunities will be key to our success.
Central Otago District Council (CODC) is looking for an independent Board Chair and four Board members to a newly established TCO Advisory Board. CODC will be represented on the Board by the Mayor (or designate).
The purpose of the Board is to provide leadership and governance advice on TCO’s tourism marketing and destination management plans and oversight of the delivery of the Central Otago Tourism Strategy.
Along with a genuine passion for Central Otago, we are looking for people who can bring strong marketing, communications and commercial skills to the Board. Experience in tourism operations, product development and marketing in domestic and international markets would be an advantage, as would experience in events and sponsorship or business and regional development.
The Board will meet four times a year and members will have their travel costs met along with a daily meeting allowance.
The terms of reference for the Advisory Board along with the Central Otago Tourism Strategy are available on council’s website under Vacancies.
If you are interested in being interviewed for either the chair or board member positions then please submit a cover letter outlining what interests you in the role(s) and summarising the skills that you would bring to the Board along with a brief CV that highlights any governance experience. We will be scheduling interviews in early October.
Address applications to the Chief Executive Officer, Central Otago District Council, PO Box 122 Alexandra, 9340 and email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications close at 12 noon on Friday, 28 September 2018.
