Come stay within the grand historic walls of Earnscleugh Castle, a Category 1 Heritage New Zealand-listed treasure located less than 5 minutes from the historic charm of Clyde.

Earnscleugh Castle offers more than boutique accommodation - it's a living piece of New Zealand history.

From its roots as a gold rush-era sheep station to the bold, red-brick "Jacobethan" manor built by entrepreneur Stephen Spain in the 1920s, the castle stands as a proud symbol of ambition, resilience, and frontier spirit.

Now lovingly restored by your hosts Ryan and Marco, the castle's six individually styled suites and rooms blend heritage grandeur with modern comfort. Ornate plasterwork ceilings, crystal chandeliers, French antique beds, and sweeping views across the Old Man Range and Fraser River meet every contemporary luxury - with daily breakfast, pre-dinner charcuterie and house wine included in your stay.

Beyond your beautifully appointed room, the castle's communal spaces are a destination in themselves: sink into a leather wingback chair in the rimu-lined Library, dine beneath chandeliers in the Grand Formal Dining Room, or soak up the morning sun in the Ballroom before stepping onto the eastern deck. Outside, unwind in the heated pool, Finnish sauna, hot tub, or ice bath, and enjoy a game of croquet on the front lawn - with lessons from your hosts on request.

Castle suites and rooms are adults-only (18+). Families with children are warmly welcome when booking the entire castle as an exclusive buyout, or when staying in the self-catering Coach House on the property.
